V3 Downs Link Crossing (10th November 2025)

Detailed designs for the A281 Downs link Crossing have been submitted for procurement, following a recent Road Safety Audit (RSA). They are ‘Version 3’ and are dated 22^nd August 2025.

This is the design that WSCC will be taking forward for construction during the 2026/27 financial year, subject to relevant Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) consultation. The (TRO) seeks to extend the 40mph approximately 330m east and will follow a legal process to be implemented.

N.B. Since writing the article in the Rudgwick Magazine June 2025 issue, Version 2 of the proposals has now been released. Amongst other changes the rumble strips have been replaced with ‘dragons teeth’ road markings.
